Single Vineyards

WINE IS MADE FIRST AND FOREMOST IN THE VINEYARD

We believe it’s only possible to make great wine from great grapes, and the volcanic soils of Tenerife have a key role to play in the unique style of our wines. For the last 20 years, we’ve been carefully mapping our islands’ native grape varieties to specific vineyards – each perfectly matched to the microclimate and soil.

Our vineyards are mostly based in the north-west of Tenerife; a lush, green, part of the island, swept by the trade winds and exposed to brilliant sunshine. We also work with a variety of independent viticulturists, most of whom we’ve had relationships with for more than 20 years. The combination of our individual microclimates, old native vines, and the decades of our shared expertise in tending them is the blueprint for our terroir.

While we manage various plots of land in north-west Tenerife, the following vineyards have all earned a special place in our hearts.

PLOT

PARCELA LADERAS DE TENO

Wine is rarely made in ugly places, but few are as wild and beautiful as Laderas de Teno. Situated in the rugged north of Tenerife, in the El Palmar Valley, this rocky vineyard sits at an impressive 550-650m above sea level, benefitting from the cooler nights and bright, sunny days. The terraces sit upon the eroded slopes of Macizo de Teno – the first thrust of the volcanic eruptions over 11 million years ago!

The vines are also exposed to the cooling trade winds that blow in from the Atlantic, helping us retain freshness and delicate aromas in the grapes we grow here. Parcela Laderas de Teno comprises barely 2,4ha of land, sitting at over 500m above sea level on incredibly steep slopes.

The fresh conditions of this vineyard are particularly well suited to our Tintilla vines, allowing them to ripen evenly while retaining the elegance and acidity that this grape is so famed for. Vijariego Negro, Baboso Negro and Bastardo also all grow here, their roots searching deep through the rocky soils and drinking deep of Tenerife all the while.
